A journey of discovery
The QE Outdoor Education Programme evolves with the child, offering a journey that deepens in scope and ambition at every stage.
In the Pre-Prep and Prep School, outdoor explorations spark curiosity through nature walks, gardening projects, and on-campus adventure play. Additionally, the children are introduced to day field trips that connect their classroom learning with the wider world. Visits to farms, wildlife reserves, museums, and coastal environments bring nature, history, and culture vividly to life.
As students move into Senior School, opportunities become more challenging and adventurous. Day expeditions may include kayaking, hiking, desert conservation studies, and cultural immersion trips, developing both environmental awareness and cross-cultural appreciation. These experiences prepare pupils for multi-day residentials, where they test their resilience, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
By the Sixth Form, the programme culminates in ambitious multi-day expeditions, international travels, and participation in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. Whether trekking through rugged landscapes, engaging in overseas service projects, or completing demanding physical challenges, students are encouraged to lead, plan, and take ownership of their growth. In doing so, they build independence, adaptability, and leadership that will serve them long after school.
